ABOUT

Growing up on a family dairy farm my designs have always been inspired by my natural surroundings. Sustainable farming and food production is a huge passion of mine, with much of the imagery depicted in my products being farm inspired.

This combined with my love for creating vibrant unique colourful artwork for interiors has inspired me as a designer.

In 2018 I gained a First-Class Honours degree in Textiles Innovation and Design from Loughborough University. In my placement year I worked in the head offices of a number of big name brands including H&M, Stockholm, Designers Guild, London and Marks & Spencer London, all of which provided great working experience, which I then channelled into my final year at university. Shortly after graduating I was employed by the luxury furniture brand, Wesley Barrell, working closely with clients to create their dream living environment. Sadly, in 2019 the company went into administration.

Later that year I made the move to set up ‘Fiona Frances Designs’ focusing on selling Home Accessories and taking on bespoke commissions including those for The Cart Shed Café in Wallingford, and The Oxshed Café in Cholsey.

2020 saw the launch of my website with ecommerce. I developed the Fiona Frances branding and packaging as well as investing heavily in high quality stock. With lockdown putting a stop to trade fairs I used the time made available to paint new designs and develop my collection further.

With the need for more space for my growing business I designed and invested in my home studio. Once a disused shipping container, I have transformed it into a fully functional working space with heating, electricity, internet, and sturdy racking to house my growing stock. Just a few steps from the farmyard, my studio is the perfect creative space to allow me to produce and develop new ideas for the Fiona Frances brand.

Alongside running Fiona Frances Designs, I also work for a wonderful upholstery company in Abingdon. The company reupholsters old, and makes new bespoke furniture, all to the highest quality. Providing a personal design consultation service for our customers, I then work closely with our highly skilled craftsmen and women to ensure that the customer’s ideas and individual styles are brought to life.

In 2021 I plan to attend more trade fairs and increase the distribution of my products through local shops and cafes. This will be a great way for me to meet new customers and expand my brand awareness. My ultimate aim is to bring joy to people’s living environments through my vibrant and colourful designs, all of which are printed and made in the UK.
